Statement of Beliefs

Statement

Please read all five chapters of 1 John. There you will find a succinct statement of beliefs written by the apostle. They are what we also believe. “These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, in order that you may know that you have eternal life.” I John 5:13. Of course there are other writings (too many to count) throughout the gospels, the letters, and the law and the prophets. But reading 1 John should be sufficient for those who understand the word and who need a statement of beliefs.

An explanation

We are not being dismissive or flippant about sound doctrine, neither was the apostle John; hence the letters 1st, 2nd & 3rd John. It is just that we do not believe it is necessary to expound any further for the following reasons.

The purpose of these articles on this website is for exhortation and the proclamation of the good tidings (Luke 3:18; 1 Corinthians 14:3; 1 Timothy 4:13; Hebrews 13:22); and to help those who are in Christ receive the answer to the apostle Paul’s prayer:

[I] Cease not. . . making mention of you in my prayers; That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all. (Ephesians 1:16-23 [KJV])

This is important. As the apostle Peter said in 1 Peter 1:13, “fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you.” In order to do that, one must first be enlightened as to the magnitude of that hope.

An exhortaion for the searching reader

“For our exhortation is not of error, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile: (I Thessalonians 2:3 [ASV])” This is our goal. And we succeed only if what we write is “built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets . . . (Ephesians 2:20 [ASV])”  By the way, Moses was a prophet. (Deuteronomy 34:10)

“To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.” (Isaiah 8:20 [KJV])

Research what we say for yourselves. If an article is not supported by the law, the prophets, and the apostles, then reject it. But if what we have written is speaking to you because it is supported by all of the above, but you still have questions about the article that need answers, then please write to us and ask those questions you have about the article. We will answer; although give us time.
